Talking to fellow inventors–Inventors Groups

I often recommend that my clients, especially those that are new to inventing and bringing ideas to market, talk to other inventors.  If you are a new inventor, talking to another inventor, particularly those inventors who have been successful, can really help the new inventor find and take the best course of action–from preparing a business plan, to setting up manufacturing in China, to finding a distributor here in the USA.  No matter where you are in the USA, there is probably an inventor’s club near you where you can talk to fellow inventors.  The United Inventors Association has a list of many, if not all clubs, in the USA.  Some local clubs I have recommended to inventors are the Inventors Association of Connecticut which meets in Fairfield, CT, and the Innovators Resource Network, which meets up in Springfield, MA.    There is also the Danbury Inventors Group which used to meet in Newtown, CT.  Please note, that if you have an invention, but have not filed a patent application yet, do not disclose your invention to the public!
